Dorothea Williams-Arnold is an English and Language Arts teacher at Cass Technical High School in Detroit, with nearly 18 years of experience within the Detroit Public Schools Community District. She holds a Bachelor of Science from Eastern Michigan University and a Master of Arts from Marygrove College.
She serves as a senior fellow at the Pulse Institute and is the President of the Esper St. Block Club. For over 20 years, Dorothea has been a dedicated neighborhood advocate and block club organizer. She focuses on increasing resident engagement through intergenerational activities, leading collaborative efforts to mitigate the destabilizing effects of blight by forming the neighborhood Blight Reduction Task Force, and advocating for investment and development in the area.
In addition to her advocacy work, Dorothea is an essayist, with her writings published in Chalkbeat, Bridge Detroit, and the Pulse Institute. Her work primarily addresses education equity and the detrimental effects of predatory investment trends.
